About

There is nothing like watching people as they discover my purses. Laughter, surprise, interest, confusion. What a range of emotion and I enjoy them all. Some people know what they are looking at right away, but for others it takes a while. Who would have thought, when I made my first pop tab purse about five years ago, it would have developed into this business and such a big part of my life?

People ask me if it drives me crazy stringing all those tabs together. But actually, I think it keeps me sane. It is relaxing for me when I am working on a purse and the creative process is rewarding. The best part, though is the people I talk to at shows and online. What a variety!

I am so fortunate to have found a medium that appeals to such a wide range of individuals and personalities.

Every tab I use is post-consumer recycled. That is to say it has been pulled off an empty pop or beer can and saved by someone. Local charities collect them as a fundraiser and sell them to the scrap metal yard where my husband works. Employees are able to purchase scrap from the yard as a benefit of employment, so it works out great! There are a few families at my boys' school who collect them for me as well, and strangers often approach me at shows with baggies of tabs. Sometimes people who have been at my booth stop back, pull the tab off the can they are drinking from and hand it to me. I love it!
