About

Welcome to slathered! My name is Sharon and I live in Woodbridge, Va., a suburb of D.C. It's city enough to have major traffic but country enough to have sweet tea.

I'm a part-time metalsmith who usually works with sterling silver, fine silver, and gorgeous stones. However, I'm not above using vintage materials in an irreverent way that would make a serious antiques collector weep. Back in the day, I was a newspaper editor. My days were spent running around like crazy, stressing over deadline and swearing a lot. I beaded in my free time and dreamed about learning how to work with metal. Years later, I saw an opportunity and jumped. I left journalism and took some classes. I've only been smithing for a couple years, but I'm loving every minute of it.

All slathered jewelry is made by me in my smoke-free home. But please be aware that swearing's ingrained now and essential to my jewelry-making process.

Visit my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/slathered, or check out my blog at www.slathered.blogspot.com. And of course I'm on Pinterest and Twitter: www.pinterest.com/slathered and www.twitter.com/slatheredgems. Thanks for stopping by!
