Lynn Hays' Profile

About

I am a visual artist, working in several mediums including oil on canvas, oil on paper, charcoal, oil pastel, monotype and papier-mâché sculpture. I am primarily self-taught. I began drawing at the age of three and knew by the age of five that I was to be an artist.

I am interested in relationships: the relationship of one color to another, of one person to another, of light and shadow, and the relationships of human beings to Nature and the Universe.

As an artist, exploring beauty and mystery has endless possibilities and probabilities. These intrigue me as I am always looking for the inner depths, the essence of the energy. It can be as simple as seeing how the sun filters through the leaves of a cottonwood tree, creating dancing patterns on the grass below, or it can be feeling into the unseen and conveying visually what we may never actually see. I love exploring Nature with humor, with seriousness, and with an open mind and heart to see what is revealed. My titles provide a glimpse of my feeling or thoughts about the art, yet I love for the viewers to be free to see and feel their own experiences that the art may invoke. The simple art of life is what inspires me to create; to look for the seen and unseen in Nature and the Universe.
