Sarah and Justin VandenBrink's Profile

About

Hello and WELCOME to our profile. Here's a little bit about us and our business.

Sarah first made a spoon necklace in high school (that's 2007, people). In one of her art classes, a teacher passed out spoons to everyone in the class and said, "make something you can wear." Everyone made a spoon ring, but Sarah made the first spoon necklace.

Spoon necklaces stayed within friend groups as gifts and such until, one day, people started asking where they could buy a necklace. With Justin's help and savvy internet skills, his idea was to build an Etsy page... et voilà, here we are!

We hope you enjoy looking at the products we have made available. We try to create one-of-a-kind pieces for people who love beautiful things. Check back often because we're am building up our page and adding…

What do we do when we're not spooning?
Sarah is currently a full-time student at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She have one more year and then will graduate with her doctorate (holy moly) in Vocal Performance and Literature. She lovse singing opera, thrifting, watching movies, and playing with their adorable Bichon Frises, Dewey and Pippa.

Justin is currently an overnight manager at BJ's Wholesale Club in Greece, NY. Whenever he's not working, he's out thrifting and building his Amazon business. He's also a serious movie buff, loves collecting Funko Pops, and adores his family.

We recently changed our Etsy page from Silverwear Creations to The Recycled Art Project for two reasons:
1.) Silverwear Creations kept us too stuck in only doing things with silverware. Also, there are other shops with similar names and we wanted our own identity!
2.) Over the past couple years, we've have found a true passion in trying to recycle, upcycle, and help save the Earth. We try to spread the word of reducing waste and understanding the difference between needs and wants. We live in a society where we throw SO much away. Our dream is to get rid of 1-time use plastics (water bottles, plastic bags) and show everyone how easy it is so become less wasteful.
