About

I haven't always lived in the mountains, but I got here as fast as I could. This is a saying seen on bumper stickers and shirts all over the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. For those of us who were not born there, the mountains of North Carolina have a draw that compelled us to move there in 2007. More recently, we moved to Philipsburg, Montana, in the Rocky Mountains. Our hearts are in the mountains, whether they are located in North Carolina or Montana.

My mother was a home economics teacher who was raised by my grandmother, a grand old southern cook. Cooking has been at the center of our family from the days we all met with our aunts, uncles and cousins for Sunday dinner at my grandmother's house to the special gatherings we had while our children were growing up.

My grandchildren are grown now, but still request my pound cake. I have passed this recipe down to my daughter in law and grandchildren. It is a special treat for us for birthdays and family get togethers.

My Smoky Mountain Kitchen has favorite family recipes, homemade goodies, handmade napkins and table linens, vintage cookbooks, vintage kitchen utensils, my own handmade pottery and maybe a few surprises I haven't completed yet.

My full time job is making pottery in my studio located in Philipsburg, Montana. My husband and I have opened our shop on Broadway Avenue in downtown historic Philipsburg, MT. My studio overlooks the Big Discovery ski area and the local Pintlar mountain range.

Welcome to my shop. Convo me with any questions you might have or just stop by to say hello!
