About

I'm an artist and mama... though sometimes in the other order...

I'm first and foremost a collage artist (though I've been known to draw, paint, and wield a camera). I work with found images and ephemera, mostly creating small pieces which are snapshots from an imagined narrative or dreamscape. The goal of my work is to create a feeling like you've discovered a hidden moment, frozen in time, and are peeking in through the looking glass. I'm influenced a lot by the dada movement (and Hannah Höch in particular) as well as the abstract expressionists and other modern painters - such as Frida Kahlo and Mark Rothko.

"Whuffling Studio" comes from my son, The Whuffle. From birth, the young gentleman made this rather strange... whuffling... noise to communicate, and it became a name that stuck. Now it's the name my studio has…

Now it's the name my studio has taken on as my identity as a mother informs my artistic endeavors.

All pieces are created by hand with paper, not digitally. All works sold are the original collage, not prints or reproductions. The buyer is purchasing the original work - I retain all reproduction rights to the image unless express written permission is given.

I happily accept commissions. To commission work from me, I need a sense of the space the work will inhabit (office? kitchen? bedroom?) if you know this ahead of time and also a color palette that you would like for the work (blues, greens, complementary colors.... etc.). For commissions, it is impossible for me to edit work after everything is glued down. I will send you a scan of the finished piece before it ships and if you are unsatisfied, I will give you a full refund - but I reserve the right to re-sell the piece.

My work has been exhibited at Hampshire College gallery and at AS220 Gallery in Providence, RI. I have sold pieces to buyers throughout the US and Iceland. I'm always looking for more happy homes for my pieces and more opportunities to show my work!
