BIO
Erin Cadigan
Owner/Designer/Illustrator
Erin is an artist living in Brooklyn, NY. She holds two degrees a BFA in Illustration/Printmaking from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA and a post graduate degree in Fashion Design from Helen Le Feaux, Inc in Vancouver, BC. Erin has spent most of her life traveling, making art, seeing live music and dancing. On tour with the Grateful Dead since 1994 and after Jerry died with Phish, Erin has seen almost 800 concerts and music festivals including 72 Grateful Dead shows and 295 Phish. Shes also is a huge fan of heavy metal, punk, disco and hip hop. Until recently she was working at her first and only ever 9-5 job as head designer at an accessories company here in NYC. It lasted a lllooooonnnggg 3 years. While there she learned a few things, the most important being she really didn't like working for someone else. Inspired by being a Project Runway semi-finalist (top 30-100 out of over 10,000) the last three seasons in a row, disgust with the environmental and human toll of the fashion business, and a drive to go back to being self employed Erin decided to start her own line, soulOAK. Basing the concept of THREE, a t-shirt and poster line she has run since 1997, where all images are related to scientific, cultural or scientific principles, soulOAK will eventually be a full clothing line, environmentally friendly and sweatshop free. She is excited to launch the inaugural knitwear line this fall.
