About

I've loved crafting and working with my hands since I was a very young girl. I guess that growing up poor makes you rather resourceful, because it seems to run in the family.

Over the years, people have often told me that I should sell the things that I make but I've hesitated out of fear that doing so would turn me into a kind of art "factory" and stifle my creativity.

Recently, however, I've been giving my crafting a great deal more thought and realize now that I would like combine my passions for art, social justice and environmental issues.

If I am to call myself a Christian, I simply cannot ignore that I am entrusted to be both a good steward of the earth that I live in (Genesis 1:26-28) and of others, extending help to those in need (Matthew 25:35, Proverbs 31:9). I want to use whatever talents I've been gifted with to give back as much as I can.

So going forward, I intend to be both environmentally and socially-conscious as much as possible by:
- using materials that are either "upcycled", recyclable or biodegradable/non-synthetic and
- forwarding some of what I make and proceeds from my crafts' sale to those in need.

It is my hope that other Etsy crafters will also support the following and other charity crafting projects:

This project seeks out donors to sew or purchase new, reusable menstrual pads for donations to areas of Africa where these products are needed most.

Lifeline of Hope invites businesses, individuals and organizations to consider investing in the lives of the orphan children of the world by donating Gifts in Kind to Lifeline of Hope.

MACS provides emotional and financial support to families whose children suffer from chronic or life-threatening illnesses and also give those who visit the MACS website the opportunity to participate by sending mail to the children.
