Here you will find leather jewelry decorated with pewter wire. This is a craft developed by the Sami who inhabit North Sweden,Norway,Finland and the Kola Penninsula in Russia. Many Sami earn a living from reindeer herding, the skins are sold or made into beautiful products. The skin is reknown for its suppleness and durability and is prized by Italian designers.
I was introduced to this craft many years ago by my husband who made hunting knives and he wanted me to decorate a knife sheath with pewter wire - and from there I was hooked.
Although I am an artist, painter, by occupation, I need time to refresh myself and take a rest from my work. I use this time to make this jewelry. The Swedish winters are long and dark and it´s a cosy feeling to sit in my studio with a log stove burning, creating these wonderful objects…
