Hi! I am a stay-at-home homeschooling Mama of a precious little boy who came home from Russia 5 and a half years ago. My super sweet, super supportive husband and I are trying out this Etsy gig to make a few extra dollars to help fund our next adoption. And in the meantime, being creative keeps me sane and helps the time pass until our little one comes home. And yes, I do have two wonderful spotted puppies! Welcome to Spotted Puppy Studios! Named for my two sweet Spotted Puppies, Nick & Grace, this shop has been established to provide you with high quality, original artwork for children’s rooms and nurseries. When I was a little girl, I loved the smell of a box of new crayons…still do. At six, I told my parents I wanted to be a “professional colorer,” to which my big brother promptly responded, “There’s no such thing!” But, I beg to differ, dear Big Brother! After working in Children’s Ministry for over 15 years, homeschooling our son for three years, and now making art and using color to bring smiles to boys and girls faces (and their parents’, too!), I think I’ve come as close to a “professional colorer” as anyone ever could.

Five years ago after we brought our son home from Russia, I started making simple drawings and putting them together in a book for him in order to find a way to communicate details of his birth and adoption that would be difficult for a young child to understand. During this time I realized how healthy it was for my soul to spend time being creative… I felt more peaceful when I had been drawing! Plus, I loved seeing how things I made could help my little boy better understand my love for him. When it came time to look for ways to earn extra income for our second adoption, my husband thought it would be a great idea to offer my watercolor and pencil drawings on Etsy. So here I am, all because of my Sweety’s great support! My artwork includes verses from the Bible that have been very meaningful to me, particularly as I have become a parent. I hope this special aspect of my work will be an encouragement to you and the little ones with whom you share it!
