About

I have had a love of Veneteian/Murano glass beads since I was a child. The first time I laid eyes on the beaded necklaces my grandparents brought back from Italy, I was smitten with them. My fascination and love for Venetian glass beads has not wavered over the years. My favorites are the "Fiorato" which means "Flowered or floral" in Italian, also known as Wedding Cake beads. They are a beautiful example of the classic centuries old Venetian style of beads. Italian glass artisans have been creating them since the 1600's. The technique for making these beads was a closely guarded secret for centuries. These gorgeous beads have a classic old world beauty and charm to them.

The technique for making these beads was a closely guarded secret for centuries. These gorgeous beads have a classic old world beauty and charm to them.

I strive to reflect that same old world charm and beauty in my designs with a bit of eclectic charm by designing with Italian glass beads, misc metal findings, and various crystals. I also love designing with my little abalone shells that I collect along the Big Sur coast of CA where I live close by.

I have had other professions but none equal the satisfaction & joy of beading and designing with beads.

My husband and I have traveled back and forth to Venice & Murano, Italy over the years and have had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful glass artisans and also to gather inspiration for my designs. I truly love each piece of jewelry I design with these beads and hope others do too!
Grazia,

Shelly
