Evening drives after dinner were a regular occurrence in my household, and it was during these drives that I first remember seeing flocks of starlings forming fluid patterns in the dusk lit city sky. Like water and air, their movement was captivating and beautiful.

As I grew older, I noticed less and less starlings over my city. Although this decline has unfortunately most likely been caused by environmental factors, the feeling I experienced watching the starlings dance will always stay with me and will forever symbolize the untouchable magic of childhood that I still hold so near to my heart.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always had a passion for making and collecting things. "Thrifting" has been a verb in my vocabulary ever since I was old enough to go to a thrift shop on my own hard earned baby-sitting dime.

Growing up in a sugar-free, un-processed, post-hippiedom 80's household often left me feeling deprived and desperate for continuous excitement...always looking for new ways of being creative and adventurous. I built forts out of large appliance boxes, the public library was my second home, I cut my own hair, I made jewelery out of hoarded candy wrappers and pop cans, I made up songs and gladly rummaged through abandoned houses with my dad.

Although my parents worked hard to keep me from having a well rounded sugar-based diet, while all my besties were off finding themselves in cupboards full of Jello pudding pops, HI-C and fruit roll-ups; my parents were actually pretty awesome. They not only made sure I grew up with healthy eating habits, but they also made sure I was exposed to a healthy dose of arts and culture. Being dragged to a foreign film on a Friday night was not unexpected and most of my musical knowledge is due to growing up in a house that was constantly filled with an amazing variety of eclectic international music, as well as the most monumental, life-changing, folk, rock, pop and soul of my parent's generation and beyond. xox

One of my biggest pet peeves in life is wasted potential. I truly believe that everyone should do what makes their heart sing, whenever possible!

I believe that volunteering is essential to building strong communities, making connections and also for gaining priceless life experience.

I also believe that hard work + desire is the recipe for success in business...luck has nothing to do with it.

I've have a long-term adoration for Stevie Nicks.

I had an embarrassing hip-hop phase on Jr.high, but I still love to Fight the Power!

The keys to my heart can be found in a trusted bottle of red wine, good quality dark chocolate, a church thrift shop on a rainy day, a warm hug, and cooking a comforting meal.

The smell of freshly split oak burning in a winter fire holds a cellular memory in my soul, and riding my bicycle down a country road has been known to make me smile until it hurts.
