Art is an important foundation to my classroom and curriculum. It helps create a visually calming and attractive space as well as reinforces beginning writing, early reading, pre math concepts and encourages imagination. The majority of my planned art projects are an extension of a story or poem that the children are familiar with.

I also find inspiration in patterns and textures, which is also incorporated into my daily curriculum usually through fine motor activities, such as play dough or scissor practice. Sometimes sand or glitter is added to the play dough and other times we'll practice scissor skills by cutting decorative paper.
