Liz Blanchflower's Profile
My daughter, Olivia, first got me interested in jewelry-making - that was almost fifteen years ago! Originally from NY, I was raised in a close knit family that centered around my matriarch/grandmother who was a seamstress of pure artistry and ran a dress factory in lower Manhatten. A full-time Spanish teacher, I've dabbled in beading, bead and wire weaving, glass-blowing, and finally metalwork until I decided that forging metal is what "moves me". (I've made lots of my own clothes over the years too!) Little by little I've taken courses, watched videos, (thank-you Ganoksin!), read books, and worked with other jewelers to expand my craft.
All my work is hand-forged from sterling, brass, and copper sheet and wire. I love the hammer and torch, and exploring unique forms with new tools and methods - my husband says I'm just a tool junkie! I make most of my findings and also love…
