A few years ago my daughter became enamored of the American Girl doll, Felicity, (they share a love of horses), but the doll was a bit of a stretch for our budget. A few years ago my daughter became enamored of the American Girl doll, Felicity, (they share a love of horses), but the doll was a bit of a stretch for our budget. I purchased a look-alike 18 inch doll and set to work in the afternoons while my daughter was in school, recreating Felicity's entire wardrobe. I even made an appropriately sized stuffed horse for the doll to ride complete with saddle and bridle. Every moment spent working on the project was worth it to see the look of awe and delight on my daughter's face as she opened the boxes that Christmas. I, however, had become thoroughly hooked on sewing doll clothes, and so, to give me a grown up excuse for continuing to sew them, I opened In Marigold's Attic (originally named Stonehousehill) on Etsy in 2011. Since then I have enjoyed sending my little handmade, one-of-a-kind clothes to little and big girls across the continent and even across the pond. Most afternoons, when the housework and errands are done--or not--and before I pick up the kids from school and start dinner, you can find me at my sewing machine stitching away at something new.
