Thanks for visiting my shop!
My name is Jill and I've always loved making things. I made jewelry for years, usually for my friends and their bridesmaids. I really wanted to expand my skills so started taking classes at Pratt Fine Arts in Seattle. I was hooked on metalsmithing from my first step in the door. It was so tactile, physical, and a great creative outlet! A few years later I'd accumulated enough tools and skills to continue creating things at home...on the kitchen table! I continue to take classes and learn from other talented artists. After two years of clearing the table for dinner and clearing the table for jewelry making, I finally have a real studio space! Hurray! Thanks to my wonderful talented husband who is also head of the quality control department. But enough about me, here's a little history about "sucree".

Hurray! Thanks to my wonderful talented husband who is also head of the quality control department. But enough about me, here's a little history about "sucree".

My grandfather has a maple sugar camp in eastern Canada near my home town in Maine. The french word for it is "sucrerie", a derivative of the word sugary or sweet. Which in french is...sucree! It is one of my favorite places to be and holds many wonderful memories. It seemed only natural that I call my shop sucree.

I've always had an appreciation for handmade items. The quality and attention to detail always surpass mass-produced items. My favorite handmade possessions are a blanket my great grandmother made and a wooden bucket for collecting maple sap that a great great uncle made.

I spend my time in nature and enjoy all of the outdoor activities Seattle has to offer. You'll find these influences in my jewelry. In order to preserve nature's beauty and avoid digging in quarries and mines to create my jewelry, I use recycled, eco-friendly silver exclusively. You'll also notice recycled findings and stones incorporated into my art. Ask your jeweler to use recycled metals and reduce the demand for mining one ring at a time!

I hope you enjoy your new jewelry as much as I enjoyed creating it!
