i could (and do) spend hours touching yarns, appreciating and choosing colors, and wondering what this soft alpaca just-right-orange yarn will become. i love to sketch a sweater and figure out how to make it happen. i love to pair colors and see what they bring out in each other. i love the process of knitting - stitch by stitch creating something with the hope that someone else will love it the way you do.

my mom taught me how to sew and knit, when i was growing up in rural maine, and it's long since been the way i prefer to spend my time. in the past few years i've gained a greater appreciation for materials, colors and methods. as a yankee i always create with practicality in mind - thinking of a potentially messy baby or a super busy mom. but i think babies should have pretty luscious cozy comfy fun clothes. pieces you care for so they can be passed down to another baby…

sewing scratches an itch that knitting can't reach, so to speak. while knitting can take days or weeks, a sewing project can be started and finished in an afternoon. i revel in the fabrics in my stash, loving the colors the fabric designers have handed to us. it's the same joy i feel when i see the color green that only exists when the leaves are just starting to open in the springtime. i love that a tool like a needle roll or tote bag, can become something you love because of its shape or its colors. something you look forward to using or showing to your friends.

i hope you see the care that i put into making each piece that is in my shop. i love all of them, and have my favorites, and am so excited to share them with you.
