SUSAN DENNIS GORDON. ARTIST STATEMENT.

Painting is not just a hobby or a job to me; it’s a natural outpouring of who I was created to be – an artist. Francis Schaeffer, one of my favorite theologians, once wrote, “Art is a reflection of God’s creativity, an evidence that we are made in the image of God.” It is my hope that my work embodies his words.

ARTIST BIO.

Susan Dennis Gordon, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, attended Auburn University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics and Painting. She went on to complete her Masters of Art Education in 2006 at the University of Montevallo. Since 2007, she has been the Director of Arts & Education at the Shelby County Arts Council, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Columbiana, Alabama. Susan and her work…

Susan Dennis Gordon, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, attended Auburn University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ceramics and Painting. She went on to complete her Masters of Art Education in 2006 at the University of Montevallo. Since 2007, she has been the Director of Arts & Education at the Shelby County Arts Council, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Columbiana, Alabama. Susan and her work have been featured in Birmingham Magazine (August 2009 issue), Lipstick Magazine (January 2009 issue), and Portico Magazine (October 2008 and April 2010 issues). In the 2008 Birmingham News Readers' Poll, Susan was voted to be one of Birmingham's favorite artists. Susan’s work can be viewed at Homewood's Art Alley gallery, Fairhope’s Lyons Share gallery, and on her website: www.theswanart.com. Susan and her husband, Jace, and their dog, Parker, live in the Homewood area of Birmingham, Alabama.
