About

I am a single mama, living and loving life in awesome Portland, Oregon. I have been crafting since I was five, when my grandma first brought out materials to make apple dolls. I dabble in a little bit of a lot of different types of crafting and art. Currently, my focus is on honing my sewing skills. I love hitting "the bins" (Goodwill's outlet store) to look for fun and funky items to upcycle and repurpose. I love our planet and crafting, so I try to make the two go together whenever possible.

My kids are learning a love of crafting, too, which makes me so happy! I hope to someday be able to feature some of their items here, as well.

My shop is called "TheTherapyGoatProject". Funny story how I came up with that name...a dear friend of mine and I were lamenting our loneliness following our then recent divorces. I had shortly before acquired a rabbit. In order to have a pet in my apartment, I needed to have a note from my doc saying that it was a therapy animal. Somehow, we started talking about how we both wanted to have goats (they are kind of a big deal around here. ;-)). He was the one with the yard, so I told him he should get a therapy goat. And, the name was born.

Therapy Goat Project is still taking shape. It started out as an idea for a website to feature local artists, mostly myself and my friends, as a way to get more exposure and share ideas. Yeah, I kinda never really got that going. Then, I thought I would blog about being a single parent, but, blogging isn't so much my thing, although, I may still try to get that going. Recently, I have been learning about humane parenting. What in the world does that have to do with Etsy, you ask? I am The Therapy Goat Project. I am my own project. I am learning how to support myself by doing what I love, how to live my deepest values, and help my children discover their own. So, like a baby growing inside its mother's belly, The Therapy Goat Project is taking time and patience. Perhaps someday it too will take on a life of its own.

Thanks for reading.
Peace and love,
Susie
