Mindy Sartin has been creating since the age of 9 when she fell in love with yarn and learned to crochet. Her fascination with color started at the dinner table where she would paint with her family or at the sewing machine making skirts out of sheets and table cloths.

At the age of 12 her family made the first of several moves back and forth from Washington State to Southern California. Eventually Mindy settled in Spokane, Washington where she began to study art. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gonzaga University, focusing her studies in costume design, print making and color theory. There she learned to construct hand made garments for the stage and started selling her crocheted scarves to students and faculty.

Mindy is excited to progress further with the creation of Tangent Designs. Inspired by strong contrasting colors and textures, her current collection of scarves and neck cuffs combines luxurious wool and acrylic yarns accented with vintage buttons to create wearable works of art. She begins by selecting a yarn or button that inspires her to create, diligently working fibers into one-of-a-kind accessories.
