Faith Newton's Profile

About

Hi! My name is Faith. thanks for checking out my Etsy page!

Creating has been a long journey for me, coming from a creative home, and always being too darn right-brained to do much else.

My jewelry and other work is heavily inspired by nature, especially the forest and the ocean. Messy tangled harmony is the aesthetic that interests me the most, the tangible beauty of a tree, with so many delicate intricacies, the messiness of a shell strewn beach, like jewels thrown to the wayside to be caressed by waves...But most of all the breathing presence of the stars, like a million stories living out their lives in brilliant distance, comforting and seducing us to always look forward to god, hope, and dreams.

I graduated from the New School in Manhattan, studying Philosophy and Visual Arts, with a focus on language, gender studies, and textiles.

I have recently moved to Portland Or, where I hope to walk around in the woods alot, have shows in my basement, volunteer cool places, do lots of craft shows, and learn all about herbs, woodcarving, metalworking, mysticism, race and gender theory, fabric making, loving, being and creating.
I also hope to go live on a sheep and alpaca farm for a while, and learn how to make fiber from scratch. Maybe become a sheepshearer. the beautiful part about this time in my life is all the endless possibilities.

Other then making things with my hands, I like to bake vegan goodies, travel, read, sing REALLY loud in my band XXY Lemon, play with animals and go to punk rock shows!
