About

I am a writer and a stay at home mother of four. My husband and I are autistic, as are our children, some more severely so than others, and we self-advocate, so we're pretty thoroughly entrenched in neurodiversity politics over here (we were born this way, so we don't see it as an illness or as brain damage). Other causes of perseveration include homebirth, lactivism, intactivism, gentle parenting/fighting child abuse, supporting local artists/artisans/vendors to put money back into families and communities as opposed to Wal Mart etc; and... er... fighting to get the endangered Moderate Rhino back on its feet and occupying the Republican party (hey, it's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it).

Hobbies include choral singing (I'm a mezzo), gardening, cooking, taking walks, historical reenactment (it's been ten years since I last did anything in the Society for Creative Anachronism, but my husband and I keep meaning to get back into it), avid reading, and brewing cordials.

Having spent my junior year abroad and then my graduate study in England, I'm a certified Anglophile and would love to go back one of these years.

Favourite writers include C S Lewis, Robin McKinley, Jacqueline Carey, J K Rowling, John Donne, T S Eliot, W H Auden, Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, Barbara Ehrenreich, Nancy Wainer, Ina May Gaskin, and Dr William Sears.

I don't craft. I've tried. The less said about my crafting attempts, the better. I'm no Martha Stewart. Probably no other kind of Martha, either. Alas.

Oh, and I have this THING for Gunne Sax and Laura Ashley.
