About

I am a fiber artist and love working with wool primarily. My main focus and real love is felting, wet felting to get precise, I'm totally hooked, it brings me such joy! I started working in felt in 2009 after finding a book on how to do it, I had always loved the look and feel of real felt. It is truly magical to me, it sounds like a cliche - magical - but it is! Take some wool roving, soap & water and a good amount of energy and you can create your own unique textile that have endless possibilities. From felting I became interested in natural dyeing of wool and silk, that progressed into spinning and recently I put my toe in the water of weaving with an Inkle loom......there is no room at my place for a bigger loom so I will have to hold off on that on just for a bit, just a bit. I am extremely fortunate to be able to indulge myself in these activities due to my partner who also loves what I do!

I am a fiber artist and love working with wool primarily. My main focus and real love is felting, wet felting to get precise, I'm totally hooked, it brings me such joy! I live in an old farmhouse in the mountains of Santa Cruz, California in a quiet area called Bonny Doon with my husband and our lab, Kaia. I am both a Mom and Grandma, and that really what makes me the happiest.
I opened my Etsy shop, i felt like it by terry, in 2011. Friends and family kept telling me I should sell the things I was making because they were just so great. (thanks guys) I also couldn't stop felting......nor did I want to. A gal can have only so many scarves and bags and I needed an outlet for everything I was producing and Etsy fit the bill perfectly. It allows me the freedom to create what and how much I want to sell, no real deadlines or quotas to meet. Mostly I love being able to deal directly with my customers and get feedback from them. I enjoy working with someone and creating a unique item for them and so far, whew, it's all been very positive.
I wouldn't be as far along with my felting if it weren't for my first and favorite felting instructor Carin Engen. She is a wealth of felting knowledge and loves teaching others all that she knows. She has also given me the confidence to put my work out there.....and other artists will know that is a difficult process. Not only has she been my mentor but fortune has smiled on me and we are now dear friends! How lucky am I !?!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my shop and profile. If you are more curious about felting I started a blog to clue my friends and family in on what I started doing full time, here is the link:
