Lauren Isenhour's Profile

About

Hello! My name is Lauren. I was born, raised, and still live in small-town Alaska. I love the long days of summer, the salty smell of our ocean air, and the purity of a simple existence!

These days, I'm fully consumed by my energetic and rambunctious 2 year old son, Kellen, and with building our new house! These two things fill every moment of my life, but I still try to find time to squeeze in some of my other loves:
In my *free* time, I enjoy blissfully running my fingers thru my sheep's fleece, herding my chickens and turkeys, knitting, felting, tending my garden, and designing new knit/felt items.

Knitting has been my favorite past time since I was in junior high. I LOVE creating something unique. I love bright colors, soft fuzzy textures, and functional, one of a kind, wearable art. I love a good accessory! Living in Alaska, we need…

I am working to develop a new sector of Beachcomber Studio to include a 'Farm to Fiber' aspect. You can follow that process on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BeachcomberFarmAndFiber I raise chickens and turkeys, and an organic garden in my large High Tunnel during the summers, and I've raised my own fiber sheep since 2009 (Shetland Sheep). I have long aspired to create a line of wares produced exclusively by hand from my own sheep's fiber. In 2013, I introduced Natural Knits to our Co-op gallery in Homer, Ptarmigan Arts, with great success. I look forward to the days when my *free* time increases and I am able to have those Natural Knits items available to my Etsy customers.

I sell locally at Ptarmigan Arts Co-op Gallery in Homer, and in Dos Manos Gallery in Anchorage. If you find yourself traveling in Alaska, these are both FANTASTIC galleries to check out!
