Birdbags were born out of a love for art, print, fashion, design, upcycling & sewing. I am a middle school art teacher, and sewing certainly lends a structured balance and creative outlet to my day. Inspiration for this line of clutches and handbags began in the Fall of 2010, while dreaming of something personal I could make for my bridesmaids. I had so much fun coming up with designs for the purse; choosing personalized fabrics, ironing, steaming, pinning, stitching and ultimately creating 11 beautifully finished clutches for my friends and family. As a teenager, my friends gave me the nickname "bird," mostly for my contagious energy and desire to fly to and fro wherever I pleased. Thank you to the crew who inspired the name for this line. It fits perfectly. Each bag style is named after a type of bird, or bird related characteristic, that is in line with the personality, style and design of the bag. I'd also like to thank my Grandma Zena for teaching me how to sew when I was a young girl, more importantly, for teaching me how to be patient with all creative endeavors. To my Mother, thank you so much for the love of capturing "eye candy" and for infusing my blood with your amazing artistic talent. Lastly (curtain here) to my husband and daughter, thank you for being patient with me. I love you.
