My mom crafted for many years. I remember one Christmas when we didn't have money for ornaments, she got a bunch of can lids together, punched holes in them, put some glue on them and then poured glitter over them. Those were our ornaments one year.
When I was about 18, I asked my mom to teach me how to do what she was making at the time. She handed me the supplies and the instructions and said, "You figure it out." Since then, I have been figuring it out and sometimes without patterns. Like my Tin Men...I didn't use a pattern when I made those. Most of my ideas come to me in my sleep and then I'm awake all night so I can remember how to make the item. I can't draw, so I have to rely on my mind's eye.
