I grew up in Hong Kong, a place where the ultra modern sits alongside the ancient and traditional without any apparent paradox. When I was a kid, if I had the sniffles or upset stomach or just to keep us healthy, my mom would mostly go for traditional herbal remedies.

My interest in making soap and skin care products was born out of frustration at not being able to find products that worked for my skin type and shear boredom at the same, characterless products widely available. About

I grew up in Hong Kong, a place where the ultra modern sits alongside the ancient and traditional without any apparent paradox. When I was a kid, if I had the sniffles or upset stomach or just to keep us healthy, my mom would mostly go for traditional herbal remedies.

I now live in Vancouver, BC in Canada where things are a little different, but my upbringing has given me an appreciation of the value of tried and true, traditional and natural products.

My interest in making soap and skin care products was born out of frustration at not being able to find products that worked for my skin type and shear boredom at the same, characterless products widely available. I soon realized how happy it makes me feel when I buried myself in a mountain of essential oils and how pleasant an experience it can be when I walked into my bathroom that contains a nicely scented bar of soap.

It was over 8 years ago when I made my first bar of soap & my first jar of cream. I soon realized that my enthusiasm for soapmaking far outstripped my own need for soap and even that of friends and family. Especially since I wanted to experiment with different formulations, scents and techniques. So I took a bold new step and started my own business. The Other Eden has grown slowly but I am still a one woman show. I make, cut, season, trim, wrap, label ....

The Other Eden is committed to using only the best quality of natural ingredients, sourced from the most environmentally and ideologically sustainable sources available. I offer a wide range of scented & unscented soaps for those with very sensitive skin, moisturizer, cleansing oil, lipbalm, whipped shea butter, etc.
