About

Little ol' Me:
I'm a Heather Birdsell. I have a wonderful husband, Jason, & am a new mom to the craziest almost 2 year old, Will. I'm currently a work-at-home-mom & co-writer/co-founder of a fabulous side project, www.diapersanddivas.com. Check us out!

A Little Background:
I have a degree in Interior Design. I eat, sleep, and breathe all things design, most of the time to my husband's dismay... I planned our wedding (almost 5 years ago. Where does the time go?!), and had the hardest time finding invitations that suited our style. White, fluffy, lacy things just weren't going to cut it. Finally, I resolved to make my own. And then I helped a friend with her invitations. And another. And then was asked to design and make invitations for a few more friends. Lo & behold, Paper Monkey was born.

Inspiration:
I am constantly tearing pages out of magazines, or stealing them from my parents' house (sorry!), because I saw a color scheme I liked, a room full of furniture that caught my eye, or a great recipe that makes my mouth water. Thanks to that tasty recipe, I thought of a great party theme and an invitation to send out to all my best buds. Anything and everything inspires me to do what I do.

Driving Miss Daisy:
I'm a creative chick. I love playing with colors and patterns to make something that rocks my client's world, and that's what drives me! The invitation that you send your guests is the first taste of the event. It's an important job, and I love being able to help my client bring their vision to life!

Unique New York:
My work is crisp & clean married with a personal touch. I make everything by hand. Adding a stamp motif or a sewn on embellishment means that each item is a little different. In a computerized world, something added by hand softens those hard cookie cutter edges. Your guests deserve a little TLC delivered to their mailbox.

The Process:
Send us an email (papermonkeyinvites@gmail.com) and let's get crackin'!
If it's a wedding we're talking about, you'll want to send your invitations out 8-10 weeks before your big day. For most other events, you want to mail the invites out 3-4 weeks prior.
After our first meeting (in person if you're in the Orange County, CA area, or via phone or email. Whatever is easiest.), we create some mock ups. After the design is finalized (which can take 2-3 weeks), we get to work. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your order to be completed. Everything we create is by hand, with tender love & care, so it takes some time.
Rush orders are available.
