The window lady clothing has a dramatic, psychedelic, organic and theatrical feel. Many era's of costume history combining is a great inspiration as well as the found mostly antique materials. All items are strictly recycled (except thread). I began doing the "craft circuit" at a very young age with my parents in a 1948 bus. At four years old dad taught me how to sew on a machine! Addicted to recycling and making in general is good therapy. I love giving found unfinished quilts, and other found pieces of history a new life. Now days most pieces are made in the woods of plumas county, and sewing is helping me buy house next to a magical creek. The natural setting continues to be great inspiration. For many years i did window dressing in the Bay Area. The window displays share the same resourceful, macabre and sometimes humorous elements as the clothing. To see more photos go to facebook page www.facebook.com/TheWindowLady . Also images of old window displays janay rose (facebook) on Instagram #Thewindowlady
After a 5 year break from etsy the window lady is back to selling online!
You may have seen "the window lady" items in the past 12 years at first Fridays in Oakland, treasure island flea market, jack of all trades, alameda point antiques faire v22, edwardian ball sf, Berkeley spark, beyond the fence trunk show, prepare for the playa, bay area maker faire, and other events (sometimes on a traveling tricycle store or in a big blue bus or ice cream truck)!
I frequently runs to the Bay Area for shows and have a showroom at 5th ave marina in Oakland. Write for a appointment :) let's play dress up! Thanks janay rose

I support other designers that make their items themselves. We are a dying breed.
