Dale and Tess Wentz's Profile

About

Welcome to Fantod Manor Books & Ephemera.

We are Dale and Tess Wentz, Proprietors.

We have over 15 years' experience in the online book trade and hope you'll stop by when you're seeking interesting arts and crafts books, patterns, and ephemera.

When Tess isn't poking around thrift shops discovering treasures, reading, or tending to our online shops, her hands are seldom idle and she's never in a crafting rut. Her passions are making pretty things with embroidery, counted cross-stitch, paper, latch-hook, felt, crochet, sewing, quilting, and beading. She likes to cook and bake, as well as adding plants to Fantod Manor's gardens and enjoying the colorful and delicious results.

When Dale isn't working as an operator/dispatcher for 911, he relaxes from his stressful job by reading, watching movies and TV, and wandering around thrift shops with Tess, as well as walking our little goober dog, Henry, in the neighborhood around Fantod Manor. He often plays chess and Scrabble competitively, and currently he's working on his golf game.

Our favorite authors (in no particular order) are Terry Pratchett (especially his Discworld series), John Kennedy Toole, Neil Gaiman, George R. R. Martin (we eagerly await the next book of his "Land of Ice and Fire" series), John Irving, Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Rita Mae Brown, Gabriel Garcia Márquez, John Updike, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Janet Evanovich, Truman Capote, Douglas Adams, Ursula K. Le Guin, Harlan Ellison, Philip K. Dick, Robert A. Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, and (especially for Tess...above all) Edward Gorey and his artistry.

We also enjoy live theatre (especially the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), baseball (go Mariners!), science fiction and fantasy movies, English "cozy" mysteries, jazz, classical, and 1960's rock music, animation (from Disney to Phineas and Ferb to Hayao Miyazaki to Dreamworks to anything that's truly well-done and original), good television (especially "The Big Bang Theory" and anything that Joss Whedon does), and taking little road trips.

Thanks so much for visiting!
