About

I'm one of those rare birds, an actual native of Arizona. I don't know what it is, but a lot of people here seem to have been born somewhere else.

I grew up with an older sister who was very into the John Hughes films of the 1980s. We were constantly at the Value Village thrift store looking for the perfect oversized top, hat, or enormous earrings for her ever expanding, Molly Ringwald-esque wardrobe.

I guess that was my "outliers" time of discovery...I spent so much time looking for interesting bargains in thrift and antique stores that that's pretty much what I excel in now. Although my interests in design, fashion, and art are primarily from midcentury to the 1980s. I can't really explain why. I know it has something to do with the radio station that was always on in my bedroom as a little girl. It was KOY, and I'm telling…

It was KOY, and I'm telling you, even when I was little, I was fluent in Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Herb Alpert, Tom Jones, and Dionne Warwick...all of those great artists from the 1960s.

It also didn't hurt to have older parents whose record collection included Johnny Mathis and George Gershwin...I think my sister and I should have been born when our parents first got married in the 1950s, instead of the 1970s like we actually were.

I've lived in Arizona all of my life, except for a monumental two years spent in Virginia, where I got married to my high school sweetheart who made the trek out there with me. I was plenty happy to start a life on the opposite coast, until it became clear that, as desert dwellers, my husband and I had absolutely no idea how to handle life in a snowstorm.

So we moved back here to Arizona.

I've been to school for a lot of different interests, including politics, environmental science, horticulture, and Mandarin Chinese. I've had more jobs than I would care to admit on a resume. I've been a temp, I've worked in a plant nursery, I was a carry out clerk at Honeybaked Ham for four hours...things like that.

However, for 14 years, I've had one constant thing that I've done to earn a little bit of money here and there, and that's selling clothing online. I feel like I am pretty good at it, much like I am apparently good at rambling on and on at my keyboard when I set my mind to it.
