Typewriters don't get viruses. They don't try to sell you anything. They don't show you pop-up ads.
They cost nothing to operate. You don't constantly need to update them. They're not all that easy to mess up, really.
Sometimes a typebar gets jammed. To fix it, you reach in...and unjam it.
Typewriters don't offer you solitaire, email, and Twitter when you're just trying to write. With a typewriter, you are a writer in the moment and nothing else.
That's what draws me to them. They're one of the best fixes for writer's block I know of because they keep me unrelentingly fixed on a single purpose: writing more. No distractions.
