I started handweaving after I was given a large 1930's Harris floor loom and that was the beginning of my love affair with weaving!
I now have my own studio in France, where I have lived for the last 24 years. My preference is definitely for natural yarns with a particular love for silk in all its forms. I buy the silk in bulk and dye the yarns myself to get the exact colours I want for a specific piece. I also enjoy using cashmere, yak and baby camel yarns and some of the finer good quality merino yarns. I do a lot of custom work, so don't be afraid to ask if you have an idea for something and don't see it in my shop.
Most of my pieces are 'one-offs' and I certainly don't do production runs as I enjoy the challenge of designing new patterns and textures and experimenting with colour combinations…
