My passion for clay began in 2001 with my first wheel class. I thoroughly enjoy the process of creating something useful and beautiful that I hope others will get pleasure from using. I have taken many classes and workshops, including wheel classes at Penland School of Crafts in NC, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine, and workshops at Finch Pottery in NC. Most of my ceramic work consists of functional pieces: mugs, bowls, plates, colanders, serving pieces, and bake ware. Pieces begin on the wheel using stoneware or porcelain clay, are often altered, carved, or stamped to add texture and interest. Many pieces will have a cat or dog or other animal motif or carving. I also enjoy a bit of hand building, and making decorative pieces for the garden.

I still get such a charge out of eating or drinking from one of my pieces that only weeks before was a lump of soft clay!

While I still love to do stained glass pieces, my love of pottery has taken over my glass studio space!
