About

Welcome to our shop.
We are two clay artists exploring classic themes of beauty, love, gender, and relationships through the deceptively permanent ceramic medium. We are directly influenced by the pop culture of our childhoods. Strong females, in charge yet vulnerable, stand alongside men of an ambiguous nature.
This is our attempt at the enduring cultural tradition of storytelling through clay arts. Commercial clays and glazes become the raw tools we use to communicate the way we see the world around us. There is an always present juxtaposition of crude and refined, handmade versus technologically.
Through collaboration we seek to organically grow these ideas together; nostalgic imagery and textured impressions are combined. Lights and shadows reveal hidden images within. Fossils of technology; an outlet socket, a children's game piece, a simple screw, reveal yet another layer. Each impression is a time capsule of this chaotic life.
Over the past 10 years our work has developed from wheel thrown functional pieces to non-conventional wall tiles and groupings. Hand built stoneware underglazed and glazed in bold layers of flat color give way to emerging textures. Frozen fragmented images and textures balance and speak to each other through a series of groupings.
