About

My bead obsession started off innocently.

In high school and college I would tag along with my Granny to craft fairs and I'd sell my seed bead daisy chains. Later I moved up to wire worked and chain jewelry and found I was spending an awful lot of bucks on beads! Not one to give up on my beads, I decided I would learn to make them and I cast about for some quirky options.

Polymer clay was the perfect fit. It was inexpensive, which my impoverished college student budget welcomed, and it was unusual, which fit into the 'quirky' requirement. The precision colour mixing and design work even appealed to my technical, geeky side.

Fast forward more than ten years. It's still love. These days, I work almost exclusively with millefiori or canework, the making of images in clay through the careful building of blocks and rods of colour into a long log of design. I apply these canes to everything that I can bake (mostly beads!). Afterwards there's sanding, polishing and making jewelry, vessels and pretty much anything else I can dream up.

Every single item I sell on Etsy was made by me, in my own little studio in rural Canada. I occasionally get a bit of help with production or office work from family and friends of family.
