About

Let's do the basic stuff first. I'm 38 years old, married to a great man, and have three kids, ages 14, 8, and 6. Sadly, making jewelry is not my day job, so to pay the bills I teach 1st grade. I do like being a teacher, but kids and school are not the way I remember them! Being a teacher really doesn't leave me any time for making jewelry (or anything else, for that matter), but it's truly an obsession and I can't seem to give it up. I go to sleep at night imagining new pieces and working out ideas. I get excited when I can spend money on beads and wire and metal clay. Every new technique that I learn is my favorite...until the next one. :-)

You can find examples of other jewelry I've made by going to my old shop and clicking on the sales: http://www.amanda23.etsy.com

Just for fun, here are some random facts about me. Do we have anything in common?

1. I HATE radishes, and I really mean HATE.
2. I bite my nails. For a while there, I tried to stop so I could grow them out; then I discovered that I don't like having long nails. They get in the way and stuff gets under them - eew.
3. I can sleep anywhere.
4. If I'm not making jewelry, I'm probably reading. Currently, I'm re-reading my considerable collection of Stephen King novels one more time before I donate them to Goodwill. Some of my all-time favorites are The Book of Ruth by Jane Hamilton and One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
5. Probably 98% of my shoes and clothes come from the Goodwill store. Where else does shopping become a fantastic treasure hunt?? And who can afford to pay retail? (Well, I know lots of people can, but I can't and don't want to.)

As always, I am super trade friendly, so if you have a shop and you're into it, send me a convo!!
