Gil and Marilyn's Profile

About

Gil concocts wearable art and ornate jewelry with materials found all over the place, from deconstructed vintage pieces to old computer parts, crafted together with exquisite attention to detail. He produces most of his work directly on a life-sized dressmaker mannequin to ensure a proper fit on a human neck, and sometimes designs as he goes along. His traditional Native American pieces are made entirely of authentic components such as real leather, and are constructed without modern implements (except some of the beads).

Marilyn Douglas is a fiber artist who works personally with goats and sheep on fiber farms where she interns. She hand-processes harvested wool all the way from shearing to spinning, and feels a deep connection with the animals she has raised from birth. She loves sustainable agriculture and making her own salves and infusions from the raw organic herbs she grows. She is a neurotic but sincere sweetheart with a passion for the outdoors, books, and feminism.

Together, they are two crazy idealists trying to build a sustainable homestead with a little permaculture farm and a few goats that Marilyn can call her own. They are passionate about agroecology and the harmonious integration of humankind with its mother, nature.
