Tracee Murphy's Profile

About

Artist Statement:
"I believe a majority of my paintings reflect growing up and living on the Gulf Coast of Texas and at the same time I am inspired by all the beauty and wonder God has given us. I enjoy painting a variety of subjects and don't limit myself to certain subject matter. I find it rewarding to experiment with the diversity of this sometimes unpredictable medium and discovering the unforeseen gems. It is exhilarating to observe how the colors mix, mingle, and interact. My hope is that my work evokes a positive response, feeling, or memory to the viewer."

Artist Bio:
Tracee has painted in watercolor since 1998. What began as a hobby later transformed into exhibiting her work at local art galleries and juried exhibitions. She is a self-taught artist with a multitude of art books and videos from which she has learned. She enjoys taking classes and workshops from local artists as well as nationally known watercolorists.

She primarily works with watercolor on paper. She also loves the challenges of working with watercolor on yupo, a 100% recyclable synthetic paper. Ideas for her paintings come from places she has been, places she wants to go, a photograph, a memory, and her imagination.

She is a member of the Watercolor Society of South Texas, has served on its board and committees since 2009. She is also a member and volunteer of the Art Center of Corpus Christi and serves on the Exhibit Committee. Her work has been accepted into several local juried exhibitions and won her first award in the 2010 Watercolor Society of South Texas annual exhibition. She works from her home studio and her original paintings are available by contacting her directly or through her online venues.

She currently resides in Corpus Christi, Texas with her husband and three children. She recently returned to college to earn her Associates Degree in Web Design and is set to graduate in 2014.
