Lillis Taylor's Profile

About

In college, I was an ugly duckling of design. I searched for my people in the wood shop, in book arts and in costuming. After a detour that led me to China where I taught English and then back to the US to study Chinese, I finally found my people among the quilter's of Gee's Bend. Since then, I've brought needle, thread and fabric to projects in Poland, Italy and since 2011, to my native Birmingham, AL.

I design fabric using the artwork of my father, Trés Taylor, and then sew simple clothes and home furnishings so that life can imitate his joyful spirals, birds and monks.
