Here's a little info on what I'm doing and why.........

First off.........I have a few tank tops that I get compliments on every time I wear them. They are basic black tanks that have been shredded or cut up or have the lace up back. I wear different color camisoles under the shredded ones or lace different colored ribbon down the back of the lace up type. It's fun and it changes things up and makes it so I can wear them with anything. I wear them as every day wear and I wear them to work out in. I get asked where I got them all of the time. So I've decided to start making and selling them.

Second (here's the part that's a little more difficult for me to talk about) I've always had body image issues and after having 2 girls of my own I've tried really hard not to do things to let them see that or think for one second that they shouldn't be happy with themselves…

First off.........I have a few tank tops that I get compliments on every time I wear them. They are basic black tanks that have been shredded or cut up or have the lace up back. Second (here's the part that's a little more difficult for me to talk about) I've always had body image issues and after having 2 girls of my own I've tried really hard not to do things to let them see that or think for one second that they shouldn't be happy with themselves. It's important to me that they grow up knowing they are beautiful inside and out.
One day I saw my 3 year old daughter standing in front of the mirror with this disgusted look on her face. She was grabbing her perfect little tummy and looking at my 2 year old daughter and saying "Look how gross" I was so upset and disappointed in myself. I KNEW she was copying me. I spend so much time making sure they eat healthy (most of the time) and telling them how special they are because they are nice and smart and pretty and athletic and polite and in that second it hit me that my actions speak louder than words. I was no better than the stupid media. I needed to change my way of thinking for them and for me. I needed to get my priorities straight and decided to concentrate on what REALLY matters. How many little moments with my girls had I missed out on?!?!? I decided to stop letting my real life pass me by while I obsessed about trying to become an impossible version of myself. Instead I need to truly live life and just strive to be the best version of myself. I think you get the idea.....

WHY are so many of us so critical of ourselves?!?!? We are amazing mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, co-workers, grandmothers, granddaughters, wives.......
Let's stop the cycle!!! Let's promote love, not self loathing!! Let's empower each other!! GIRL POWER!!!

I LOVE that Dove/The NOW Foundation has their "Love Your Body" campaign and wish more companies and people in the media were doing something like that.

Sooooo I've decided to combine the two. If I know how to make shirts that catch peoples attention, why not put some positive messages on them?

I've cut/sliced/shredded/added lace up grommets to tank tops and then I've done a vintage looking silk screen saying on them. All of the sayings are uplifting/funny/girl power/love yourself type of sayings. I'm hoping to get the word out that you should love who you are. I want it to be like a cool club to be a part of.

I will be donating a portion of each sale to the Dove/NOW "Love your body" campaign.
