I've loved making beautiful things from old stuff since long before I ever heard of upcycling. Whether it was refinishing a beat-up table from a garage sale or doing crafts only from things I could find around the house, creating something unique, useful, or beautiful out of junk has always been intensely gratifying for me.

In the process of trying to turn this eco-friendly "hobby" of mine into a job, several things happened. In the process of trying to turn this eco-friendly "hobby" of mine into a job, several things happened. I found out that the average American sends about 70 pounds of clothing to landfills every year! I looked through my closet and could only find two items of clothing that were made in the USA! I watched my two daughters dance around and noticed how they love clothes that move when they twirl! And that was it; Twinkle was born.

I started turning used t-shirts into Twirly Skirts for girls and my daughters started wearing them to school. I was bombarded by other moms to make some for their girls. I started selling locally. I created my Etsy store.

There you have it--the creation of Twinkle in a nutshell. As a single mom I feel incredibly lucky to do something I've always been passionate about before it had a name (upcycling) and to work from home so I can spend more time with my daughters. Thank you for supporting upcycled products, clothing made in the USA and artisans attempting to make the world a more beautiful place!
