Nicaraguan Nellamargarita Gasteazoro had lived on three different continents before the age of 26. She studied Architecture at the Universidad Autonima de Managua before immigrating to the United States to attend Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri which had offered her a full scholarship for her theatrical designs. While at Washington University, she was the master welder for the theatrical department, designed two successful shows – as well as contributing to the construction of 19 others. She received a scholarship to travel to Italy where she studied Commedia dell’Arte. Upon her return to St. Louis, she was approached by several galleries to showcase her work. It was at this time that she translated her artistic talents into the world of jewelry making – wearable art.
