My husband and daughter-in-law both suffered for years with extremely dry skin and itchy, red eczema. We spent hundreds of dollars a month on prescription and over the counter creams but nothing worked. My husband's flakes were so bad he always looked like he had walked into a snow blower and my daughter-in-law would scratch until she bled. I work in the hospital and in contact with many physicians, all giving the same advice. Use the prescription creams, watch what products you use and proper diet. Sounds familiar, but this never worked. Working in the dry air of the hospital, my skin was also extremely dry and the constant hand washing and using other chemicals caused my hands to become cracked and sore. Out of frustration, I did a lot of research and discovered that the Egyptians used Olive oil on their skin to keep it conditioned in the hot, arid climate of the desert. But Olive oil alone left me with an "off smell" that I just did not like. After more research and lots experimenting, I found that coming back to what nature has to offer in the form of natural oils, fruits, vegetables, sugar and other ingredients in the right combinations are the key essential elements to what dry, tired skin is thirsty for. Skin needed more than soap, water and chemicals that not only continued to dry out, but could cause further damage to the skin. With a lot of experimenting with combinations of nature's bounty the resulting sugar scrubs were the key. Friends and relatives soon noticed how smooth and soft our skin had become and the dry, itching and redness of the eczema faded and disappeared. Soon everyone was wanting the sugar scrubs and the wish to help more people brought me to Etsy. What was learned from the sugar scrubs was then carried over to soaps. All of the products are made in very small batches and sugar scrubs are made as ordered, all from natural ingredients that nourish, replenish and restore what nature intended for our skin to have. The scrubs and soaps have no preservatives or chemicaIs and are vegan friendly. I believe that everyone deserves the best possible skin that only nature can provide and is as soft as a butterfly - which became ButterflySoftCreations.
