V. Lynn Moore's Profile
My inspiration often starts with a sketch or a snapshot of a creature living nearby. I watch and learn its habits and try to identify with its wild nature. My portraits are an amalgam of impressions from studying my subject over time. I try to connect in a visceral way and convey the emotion that I witnessed in my rendering. I enjoy capturing an emotion in my art, whether it is fear or nostalgia or even humor. I think all emotions are valid and exist in all creatures – not just the human animal. I like working in black & white but I often include a “pop” of color. I use that technique to enhance the focal point and to engage the viewer vicariously.
My work has evolved over time. I am obsessive about conveying the beauty and wonder of the world that I see. I still hold onto the idealistic belief that perhaps one day, my work will save the world-or at least one wild and wonderful part of it.
