Welcome to Whimsidoodle, (See policies page for more information)

My name is Jen and I am a work at home mom, here in lovely Maine. I have a wonderfully supportive husband and two girls at home.

I was trying to figure out what I could make from home that I would enjoy and suddenly I remembered that I've been making origami lights for years. My sister taught me how to make origami boxes when I was in highschool. When I went into my art supply closet to get my origami paper I discovered wooden shapes that I'd bought years ago with the intention to make a mobile and never did it. Voila! I thought... I can do both. The rest just happened very naturally with the ornaments and embellishments and other wooden goodies (mobiles have been a little challenging).`

I have started buying some of my origami paper from a fellow Etsian - Jasminejewels - and all of my wooden shapes for the ornaments/embellishments are milled by a husband/wife company Lindahl Woodcrafts. They are top quality and made from from Baltic Birch Plywood. I hand-paint each component to the mobile, all of the ornaments, funiture embellishments and other wooden goodies and then put a varnish specific for acrylic paint to protect.

I then began thinking about all of the people I know who make beautiful things, but for one reason or another are not able to sell the items themselves.

This is where the dream of whimsidoodle began. To sell whimsical beautiful works by New England artisans. Stay tuned for works made by other talented artists.

******I am happy to announce that Whimsidoodle now has one of a kind Onesie Cards made by Jess Proctor of Vermont. Jess loves to create, fix and repair! She is the handy"man" in the family and loves to use her hands whether it's with paper, wood, or other materials. Making these "onesie" cards were inspired by some cards she had seen coupled with the many baby shower she has to attend this year -what better way to incorporate a need with a love. Stay tuned for more items made by Jess!

******I am equally happy to announce that Whimsidoodle now also offers custom built birdhouses by Josh Pease of Appleton, Maine. Josh has been building custom wood products, as well as custom built homes in New England for 14 years. His love of Maine and New England inspired his colonial style. The birdhouses are actually a model of the home that he built for he and his wife, Denise.
