Sabine's Profile

About

Aloha, and welcome to Kinderbonnets former label Windelpopo. My name is Sabine and I am proud mama to two of my major inspirations in life. My husband and I were blessed with the birth of a son in 2008 and a daughter in 2013. We recently moved from O'ahu, Hawaii to Germany.

About my Designs & Accessories :

Always creative and interested in a more natural life I started sewing for my baby boy during pregnancy in 2008 and more so during the first years of his life. This led to the amazing opportunity to sell my designs, which I named Windelpopo (German for cloth diaper bum). While in Germany I sewed, marketed, and showcased all Windelpopo Collections myself and sold products worldwide.

In 2012 my husbands occupation led us to move to Hawaii and with it came a different life and different opportunities. I decided to spend time designing and sewing for myself and my family and took a break from selling Windelpopo products professionally. I've spent the last months enjoying my little ones' presence and establishing new rhythms while adjusting to a family of four.
This time as been life chaining and giving birth to a daughter has been truly inspiring in the things that I choose to make a priority in our lives and how we spend our time.

About Aloha Werkstatt (Workshops):

Now, in 2014 I am taking my designs to a new direction. Living in Hawaii has been a tremendous inspiration to me as a mother and artist. This year I am beginning to offer handmade products, patterns, sewing kits, and workshops to likeminded folks who wish to create, learn to sew, and/or reclaim simplicity and self-sufficiency in today's busy world. In an effort to build a more sustainable community and share our skills I hope to establish the "Aloha Werkstatt" (Aloha Workshop/Studio) into a way for like-minded people to become confident in living with less and ditch consumerism because they know that they can make things themselves. We'll make toys together, sew-together, learn together, craft together, and bake together. I hope we can learn from each other and not forget about the wisdom of our ancestors

In 2015 and 2016 our new life in Germany began and I am concentrating more on the pattern and workshop aspect of my business as well as Kinderbonnets. Windelpopo products are not being sold anymore but are being phased into workshops and patterns in the coming years. Thus I have decided to primarily use the name Kinderbonnets and Aloha Workshops for the pattern and workshop parts of my label.

Look for a new web layout and domain in the coming months.

About Kinderbonnet Clothing:

I've designed clothing for my son when he was around a year old. It was when I realized that he didn't fit "on-the-rack baby clothing", that I started to design pants and shirts that are of high quality, fit longer and more comfortable, yet are practical for a child to move around and explore their environment in. I sewed for him and tested my designs but never sold them.
After the birth of my daughter I designed even more clothing. All her clothing is from thrift stores, vintage, or handmade by me. I have tested my designs and my unique style of sewing on my own children for years now. I am sharing how to make leggings, aprons, saroul pants, and scarfs to your little ones during my workshops. You can buy my designs via Kinderbonnets, purchase a pattern, join me on my Facebook page for unique clothing or visit me at a nearby market.

Mahalo and Aloha!
