A few years ago I was at an auction in Victoria, BC , and walked out with a box of stamps nobody wanted. It was a three dollar purchase that changed my life. I felt like I was 9 years old again, looking at my Travelers Stamp Collection which, incidentally was lost in a flood over 20 years ago. I had forgotten how cool stamps were. It took me two years to figure out what to do with my new collection, to take them beyond the scrapbook.

After trial and error working with the stamps and wood, I started producing my ‘Stamp Bobbles’. It is a four day process to make each one. When they are finished I am always amazed at how cool they look and feel, pictures don’t do them justice…

A few years ago I was at an auction in Victoria, BC , and walked out with a box of stamps nobody wanted. It was a three dollar purchase that changed my life. It took me two years to figure out what to do with my new collection, to take them beyond the scrapbook.

After trial and error working with the stamps and wood, I started producing my ‘Stamp Bobbles’. It is a four day process to make each one. When they are finished I am always amazed at how cool they look and feel, pictures don’t do them justice. They don’t always turn out perfect but they are always fun to make, which makes each one-of-a-kind. It is important to me to use reclaimed wood whenever possible. The planet has enough to worry about without me using freshly harvested wood.

I don’t consider myself an artist but I do consider stamps amazing pieces of art waiting to be brought to life in a more tangible way and I think I do that.

As well as being obsessed with stamps I am also obsessed with playing old-time banjo and singing. Not only do play music I also fix musical instruments and I love hunting through other people’s junk.
