A Treat And A Prize's Profile

About

Hi,

Welcome to my Etsy shop, XOgen!

The shop name means "a kiss, a hug, from gen" (that's me!). And "A Treat And A Prize" comes from what I hope you'll find here!

I've been creating things, both awake and asleep, for (as Carl Sandburg would say in his black turtleneck shirt) "Billions and billions and billions of years". I'm pretty much a self-taught artist and crafter, learning sewing from my mom who was a seamstress. And one of my sons just graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology. (Needed to do "a proud mom plug"-- sorry!)

In 3rd grade, I designed my first wraparound skirt and decided that I would be a famous fashion designer one day. Well, we're still working on that, only we've replaced "fashion designer" with "eclectic creator"…

About

Well, we're still working on that, only we've replaced "fashion designer" with "eclectic creator".

My favorite components to work with are things that I've designed and made myself such as the little knit houses and crocheted mermaids and the sewn birds, like the ones on my wreaths. I've also both crocheted and free-motion quilted tiny leaves. I think it adds an extra personal, One-Of-A-Kind touch! And many of the flowers I've crocheted or beaded or altered and embellished.

Everything here has been made in a smoke-free, pet-free environment. However, not geek-free as my husband and 2 of my sons are software developers! I don't ask their opinions of my work when I want to feel good about a project because their main question is "Why?" To them, Everything must have a function! And when that happens, my response to their soon-to-follow question, "What's for dinner?" is "Let them eat Pi"!:)

My sister-etsy-shop is "tinyspecials" which has jewelry in it that I've made from semi-precious stones, pearls, my crocheted flowers and other findings inspired by the shabby chic/Victorian look.

Please feel free to convo me with questions about any items or special requests you might have and Thank you so much for stopping by "XOgen"!

Happy Etsy-ing!
