About

My business name is Yagga. I chose the name because of its obvious ties with Baba Yagga. I am a first generation American, both my parents come from Russia, I grew up with stories of the Yagga. An Old woman living in the deepest reaches of the forest. The Yagga, knows many mysterious things. She represents the female achitype of wisdom and forbidden knowledge. Many fear her, though rely on her ancient wisdom. She is the one who has lived through maiden hood, has been a mother, and now lives out her days alone, but not without memories and understanding of what it means to live the first parts of life. This is for me a very powerful figure to represent, and reminds me what my work is trying to achieve. Each piece is a thoughtful representation of what we as women on our life paths are striving for. Some strive for fertility, some for a little peace, some for courage, some for protection, and others for inspiration. It is my goal to give a piece of Yagga magic to all who wear my work, as I believe that those who are drawn to my jewellery are naturally seeking the qualities that the piece is imbued with.
